Abia Man Kills Fiancée’s Sister, Later Found Dead in Bush

A young man identified as Chinedu Anamelechi, from Umunga Amakama in Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State, has been found dead after allegedly killing his fiancée’s sister, Ezinne Ariwodo.

Sources said the incident, which has thrown the community into shock, also left his girlfriend and another yet-to-be-identified person injured during the attack.

According to reports, Anamelechi fled the scene immediately after the incident, prompting a search by residents and security operatives. His body was later discovered in a bush within the area hours after the attack.

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer in Abia State, Maureen Chinaka, said the command received a distress report and swiftly deployed operatives to the scene.

She said officers found the lifeless body of the suspect with gunshot injuries, while the injured victims were rescued and taken to the hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.

Chinaka added that the deceased was confirmed dead by medical personnel and has been deposited in the morgue for preservation and autopsy.

She further noted that exhibits were recovered from the scene, while normalcy has since been restored in the area.

“The Command advises members of the community to remain calm and not take the law into their hands,” she said, adding that investigations are ongoing and efforts are in place to apprehend any other persons connected to the incident.
