The Ndiolumbe Autonomous Community has been thrown into mourning following the killing of an indigene, Mr. Ukaegbu Ogii, allegedly by his kinsman, Okwudili Mbama.

The victim was reportedly stabbed in the neck by Mbama, popularly known as Nkume, who had accused him of engaging in an extra-marital affair with his wife, Mercy Mbama.

A community source told Ohafia Reporters that the suspect, a native of Umuota village in Ndiolumbe, fled to an unknown destination shortly after the incident in a bid to evade arrest. The source further disclosed that Mbama had, a few weeks earlier, allegedly inflicted a head injury on the deceased over the same allegation, despite intervention by community leaders.

The killing has heightened tension within the community, as residents expressed shock over the development.

Confirming the incident, the Abia State Police Command said the case was reported at the Omoba Police Divisional Headquarters on April 5 by Mrs. Okwudili Mbama, wife of the suspect.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, stated that detectives visited the scene and evacuated the victim to a hospital, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.

According to her, the remains of the deceased have been deposited in a morgue for autopsy and preservation, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect.

She added that investigation into the incident is in progress.
