Confusion As ‘New’ APC National Chairman Emerges

APC Crisis Deepens as Factional Chairperson Emerges

A fresh leadership crisis has erupted within the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the emergence of a factional leadership laying claim to the control of the ruling party.

A political commentator and activist, Hafsatu Danladi, on Wednesday declared herself chairperson of a faction of the party, intensifying internal disagreements within the APC.

In a statement made available to the public, Danladi described herself as the “true and authentic Chairperson” of the party, insisting that her faction represents the legitimate leadership structure.

She also disclosed plans to approach the Federal High Court in Abuja to challenge the legality of the current leadership.

According to her, the legal action is aimed at unseating what she termed an illegitimate structure overseeing the affairs of the party.

Danladi further revealed that her group had notified the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and would seek the withdrawal of recognition for the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).

She specifically called for the derecognition of the NWC led by Nentawe Yilwatda.

The factional chairperson maintained that her actions were intended to restore legality, due process, and internal democracy within the party.

“This step is necessary to uphold the rule of law, protect the integrity of our party, and ensure that due process is followed in its leadership,” she stated.

Meanwhile, the recognised National Chairman of the APC, Yilwatda, has continued political consultations, appealing to former Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau, and Senator Bello Hayatu Gwarzo to join the ruling party.

Yilwatda made the appeal during a visit to Shekarau’s residence in Kano, urging the two political figures to support efforts to strengthen the party in the North.

Responding, Shekarau commended the visit, noting that it came at a time he and his associates were reviewing their political future. He, however, stated that no immediate decision would be taken, adding that ongoing consultations and the overall interest of Kano State would guide their next move.
